Issue:
The Open Video Digital Library Toolkit grant project is being implemented by volunteer graduate and doctoral students at The University of Texas School of Information. Still in the early phases of development, a way for standardizing the deliverables was needed. It had to allow for contributors with varying levels of experience and different backgrounds as well as members platform preferences. It also had to take printer limitations into account.
Solution:
Create a wireframe template that was easy to use and could accommodate multiple layout styles. The template also maximized page space so it could be printed on standard Letter size pages.
I created the template in Adobe Illustrator and saved it in PDF format so even those who did not have Illustrator could view the documents. I used multiple layers to allow for annotations and notes. I also supplied multiple interface widgets that might be used by those less experienced with Illustrator. Finally, I gave a demonstration and brief tutorial to the group on how the document was constructed.
